The Stations

Lansdowne Station sits just north of Bloor Street West along Lansdowne Avenue. The station is situated just south of the Junction Triangle neighbourhood and within the centre of Bloordale Village. Just to the west is GO Transit's Newmarket Subdivision, served by the Barrie Line, and the location of the future Bloor-Lansdowne Station within the current GO RER plan. The station is underground and was built by the cut and cover method.

There are two on-street bus stops serving the station, one located in front of the main headhouse on the east side of Lansdowne Avenue, and the other on the northwest corner of Lansdowne Avenue and Wade Avenue, to the south of Wade Avenue on the west side of Lansdowne is the second entrance on Lansdowne Avenue. The stops are only served by Route 47 Lansdowne.

Within walking distance of the station is the fairly new Museum of Contemporary Art. Surrounding the station are residential neighbourhoods and the dense businesses along Bloor Street.

The station layout is simple with two side platforms labeled "Westbound to Kipling" and "Eastbound to Kennedy", a central mezzanine level located above the tracks with a collection booth and fare gates, connecting to two headhouses on either side of Lansdowne Avenue. At the eastern end of both platforms is an exit to Emerson Avenue, however this exit is not served by a fare collection booth.

Unique Features

The station was opened with the first portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth between Keele and Woodbine and therefore shares the standard "look" of most stations on Line 2, square subway tiles, a coloured trim, and large lettering using the Toronto Subway Typeface on the walls showing the name of the station. Most stations on Line 2 have a unique colour scheme to differentiate between the similar looking stations, Lansdowne's is brown and cream.
